The Norwegian drama will launch in Spain and Portugal on AMC after its Panorama competition slot at Series Mania.
A hot property on the pre-sales market, the youth-oriented TV show from “Skam” commissioner NRK has already secured major distribution deals with AMC Networks International Southern Europe for Spain and Portugal, DR for Denmark, Yle for Finland and RÚV for Iceland, while the domestic premiere on the Norwegian pubcaster is set for March 15. “NRK is very strong on youth content and we immediately felt at home there,” said the creator who shared the writing duties with her brother Benjamin Berglund and convinced one of Norway’s top influencers, Sophie Elise Isachsen, to serve as script consultant. They went head on into that world, without shying away from tough issues such as the risks of cosmetic surgery, depicted in the show with raw body horror effects à la “The Substance.” “We didn’t try to make it more horrible, that’s the reality!” said Emmeline Bergund.
