ABBA legend Michael B Tretow dies as iconic group share moving tributes


All four members of ABBA have issued rare statements, paying tribute to their sound engineer Michael B Tretow, who has died at the age of 80

Anni-Frid Lyngstad, in her statement to Aftonbladet, reflected: "You were the security in our little studio bubble with your never-ending creativity, warmth and joy, and no one fit the bill as well as you! Agnetha explained that Michael was 'so sick' in the weeks leading up to his death (Image: Facebook)A recent Mixdown article spotlighted Tretow's defining production style on ABBA hits including Ring-Ring, Waterloo, and Super Trouper, highlighting his signature tom-heavy drum mixing approach. Tretow, known for not miking the cymbals to prevent overshadowing ABBA's delicate vocal harmonies, would instead focus on the toms and bass drums.
