A Look Back at Carrie Underwood's 'American Idol' Winning Season

Carrie Underwood will replace Katy Perry as a judge on season 23 of ‘American Idol,’ and Us Weekly is nostalgic for her 2005 winning season

Since winning American Idol, Carrie Underwood’s life has been so much more than “Just a Dream.” The Oklahoma native shot to fame in 2005 after becoming the champion of the TV singing competition’s fourth season. According to a 2008 New York Times piece, former Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe revealed that Underwood received the most votes from viewers by a wide margin every week.
