“The Wizard of Oz ” is heading to Las Vegas for a run inside the city’s famed immersive venue, bringing the 1939 classic to life on a massive 160,000-square-foot LED screen. But instead of rock bands or sci-fi, this time it’s ruby slippers, flying monkeys and the Emerald City that take center stage — all rendered with Sphere’s signature 16K resolution and spatial audio designed to fully envelop the audience. Judy Garland’s timeless turn as Dorothy, alongside Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Margaret Hamilton and Frank Morgan, gets a 21st-century update as the film is projected at the Sphere’s grand scale.
