The trailer sets up the sorcery students’ early days as college roommates, which includes lighthearted pranks and jump scares. Filmmaker Jon M. Chu ( Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights) directed the picture, which is based on the stage musical based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.The film adaptation is rumored to build on the musical’s plot, which is a relief since the story has been split into two parts and would otherwise make for very short films. In addition to Erivo and Grande, the picture features Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Bowen Yang, and Peter Dinklage, among others.
