Every attendee at Caesar’s Colosseum were given a faux tulip at their seat which lit up in varying colors, in particular pink and green, creating a great visual before Jeff Goldblum aka the Wizard took the stage to introduce Chu and producer Marc Platt. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the big-screen adaptation of the stage musical tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz, based on the bestselling novel by Gregory Maguire, originally based on L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, previously adapted into MGM’s classic 1939 film of the same name. The big-screen adaptation was written by Winne Holzman, who penned the long-running stage production, and Oscar-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz.
