‘Virgin River’ Gets Early Season 7 Renewal To Become Netflix’s Longest-Running Drama Series

Ahead of the Dec. 19 release of Season 6, Netflix has renewed 'Virgin River' for a seventh season, making it its longest-running English drama series.

At a time when streamers are looking for keep budgets under control, Virgin River has a very reasonable price tag — it films in Canada, the bulk of the action takes place inside a bar, a small clinic and a couple of houses, and there are virtually no stunts or special effects involved (save for a wildfire storyline last season.) Ahead of Season 5, Netflix Head of Drama Jinny Howe spoke of the “understanding that this is a really rich universe of characters and that people can’t seem to get enough, myself included,” adding that, “as long as that continues to be the case — which we’re very hopeful for — you can rest assured that there will be more Virgin River.“ In addition to Breckenridge, Henderson, Matheson and O’Toole, Season 6 series regulars include Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Marco Grazzini, Kai Bradbury, Kandyse McClure and Mark Ghanime.
