‘Vainilla,’ ‘Condor Daughter,’ ‘Baptism,’ ‘Lux Noctis,’ Win Big at Ventana Sur


‘Lux Noctis’ proves the big winner in Blood Window as Ventana Sur sections, established and new, announce awards on Friday.

Jury prized a clutch of buz titles, led by “Baptism” the feature film debut of Chile’s Covarrubias whose scored an Academy Award-nomination for best animated short in 2022 for “Beast.” The project looks set to explore the same sense of unease surrounding daily life under Augusto Pinochet sparked by the ghastly deeds carried out by his regime. Following a teen girl who breaks the rules of her matriarchal community, “Lux Noctis,” Damiana Acuña Terminel expansion on her acclaimed short, swept much of the board at Blood Window Lab, including accreditation for Cannes’ Fantastic Pavilion and Sitges’ FanPitch. Driving the build of an Ibero-American video game industry, its link to Cannes Marché du Film via the Fantastic Pavilion reenforces its global projection, consolidating as a key bridge for creators in the international market, said section director Daniel de la Vega.
