‘There’s an Awakening Happening’

Severance’s Tramell Tillman was reluctant to dance again, but Milchick’s season-two arc helped change his mind.

When an off-site excursion with the MDR workers results in Helena Eagan’s near-murder, his shadowy overlords take revenge: Gargantuan Lumon enforcer Mr. Drummond tears Milchick apart in a performance review for using too many big words. Tillman’s ability to find glimmers of humanity in the buttoned-up Milchick — from the uncomfortable look he gives Lumon Board liaison Natalie when she presents him with the “inclusively re-canonicalized” Kier portraits, to the glee he derives from dancing around the MDR office alongside a full marching band in the season-two finale — has made him a fan favorite over Severance ’s run. Milchick is really central to the back half of “Cold Harbor.” You start out sharing a stage with the Kier animatronic as the Alan Parsons Project song “Sirius” plays.
