‘The Wild Robot’ Is 2024’s Only Oscar-Nominated Film to Pass the ‘Climate Change Reality Check’ Test
DreamWorks Animation's 'The Wild Robot' is the only Oscar nominated film this year to pass Good Energy's 'Climate Change Reality Check' test.
Of the 30 films nominated for Oscar accolades this year, 10 met the eligibilty requirements for assessment — namely that the story takes place on planet Earth and in the time frame of the present day, recent past or near future. Variety ‘s review dubbed the film from director Chris Sanders to be “a gorgeous computer-generated cartoon with a human heart beating beneath its sleek, state-of-the-art surface” and “a radical new visual approach to CG animation.” The movie revolves around a robot built to serve others that winds up stranded on an inhabited island, where it dutifully adopts a gosling. ‘The Wild Robot’ is an enchanting depiction of life in the age of climate change — a poignant exploration of resilience, overcoming fears and differences, and the power of community in an uncertain world,” said Anna Jane Joyner, founder and CEO of Good Energy.
