The series, a co-production of Amazon Studios and wiip, is based on the best-selling book trilogy from Jenny Han, who also serves as co-showrunner with Sara Kucserka. Executive producers include Han, Kucserka, Karen Rosenfelt, Paul Lee, Hope Hartman and Mads Hansen.
