Broadway turned out to see favorites Patti LuPone and Mia Farrow for the first weekend of The Roommate, the new Jen Silverman play at the Booth. As the synopsis has it, the play “shatters expectations with its witty and profound portrait of a blossoming intimacy between two women from vastly different backgrounds, as they navigate the complexities of identity, morality, and the promise of reinvention. Another notable Broadway box office figure for the week ending September 1 – which included the Labor Day Weekend holiday – was The Outsiders ‘ take of$1,525,434, the production’s eighth house record at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.
