Tired of getting false hope from ineffective experimental treatments, Martha enlists Ingrid’s help in a plan to end her life peacefully. I think I saw Matador first, actually, and really loved it, but I think what really brought him into focus for me was Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, because it was such an extraordinary film for me — so alive, and so original, and so arresting.
