‘The Residence’ Pays Tribute To Andre Braugher
Andre Braugher was filming the Netflix show before he died in December 2023.

There’s a speech in the final episode of the season, given by Aduba’s birder Metropolitan Police Department consultant Cordelia Cupp, that almost feels like a tribute to Braugher. But we went through some tough things, coming out of Covid, [going] through the writer’s strike, and then dear Andre transitioned but in the midst of all that, we were able to find solace in this really fun script that we all really love and enjoy, and we put even more excellence into it for that reason.”
