Debora Cahn doesn’t want Netflix ‘s The Diplomat to feel like it was ripped from the headlines, but she still draws much of her inspiration from the current political climate, which includes the recent U.S. election. Keri Russell and Allison Janney also received Globes nominations for their roles in the second season of The Diplomat. In addition to Russell and Janney, Cahn also wanted to shout out Season 2 directors Alex Graves and Tucker Gates, who she says “did amazing, amazing work this year, and it’s been such a joy to work with them.” She also gave a nod to executive producer Janice Williams, who “is the magical being who makes it all happen.”
