‘The Batman’ Rumor Suggests James Gunn & Matt Reeves Are At Odds Over Robert Pattinson’s DC Universe Role

Is there Bat Blood in the DC Universe? James Gunn and Matt Reeves are reportedly at odds over Robert Pattinson’s role as The Batman in a new rumor.

While the rumor mill flowed with names from Jensen Ackles to Jon Hamm, all eyes turned to Robert Pattinson, who had just come off an enormously successful take on the character with Matt Reeves’ The Batman. According to veteran entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic, James Gunn did in fact want Robert Pattinson as the Batman of the DC Universe. While he didn’t reveal why he ultimately decided not to pursue that route, he did state that he is committed to telling Elseworlds stories with DC Studios, suggesting that it was likely in pursuit of giving Matt Reeves creative freedom with The Batman.
