‘Terrifier’ Outfit Cineverse Launches Reimagining Of Controversial Cult Horror ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’ — AFM
A reboot of the controversial 1980s slasher film is being lined up for release at the end of next year.
Forty years after parents picketed outside of theaters following the release of the first Santa slasher movie in the franchise, Cineverse has acquired global rights to a new version and is launching during the American Film Market in Las Vegas. The cult original was among the more controversial films of the ’80s due to its graphic violence and advertising campaign, particularly its posters and TV spots, that made significant emphasis on the killer being dressed as Santa. “As we have seen this year, there continues to be incredible demand for independent horror films with bite, and we believe this can deliver strong audiences from theatrical to home entertainment and streaming.”
