‘Swept Away,’ Avett Brothers’ Musical About a Brutal Shipwreck, Ending Broadway Run

'Swept Away,' a musical about a shipwreck that used the music of the Avett Brothers, announced it will end its Broadway run this month.

There’s been a wave of such notices, with “Back to the Future: The Musical,” “Suffs,” and “Water for Elephants” all recently announcing that they would close after suffering disappointing ticket sales. “Swept Away” tells the story of four survivors of a maritime disaster who are cast adrift and forced to make terrible decisions. The show’s producers include Matthew Masten, Sean Hudock, and Gigi Pritzker’s Madison Wells Live.
