‘Superman’ director James Gunn says he’s discussed a Marvel/DC crossover movie “a billion times” – and it’s a real possibility


'Superman' director James Gunn on Krypto, Lex Luthor, getting fired from Marvel, and projects from 'Supergirl' to 'Lanterns' and 'The Batman Part II.'

Gunn, 58, is in his third year as co-CEO of the company’s newly created DC Studios, sharing the title and office with Peter Safran, who handles the business side of the operation. With that film, he made himself an instant A-plus-list director, forging a blockbuster from a deeply personal blend of left-field humor, visual dexterity, and aching empathy for the oddest of characters, all scored with the cosmos’ greatest mixtape. It’s a flying dog who wears a cape, but that led immediately to the robots, to the fortress rising from the ground, to the device that isn’t in the comics — the giant magnifying glass, which powers him up more quickly than just the regular sun would.
