‘South Park’ Returning In 2025; Why Creators Are Skipping Donald Trump Jokes About Election & “Waiting For Paramount To Figure Their Sh** Out”


South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are opening up about why the animated series is delayed and why they will skip the 2024 elections.

“We’ve tried to do South Park through four or five presidential elections, and it is such a hard thing to—it’s such a mind scramble, and it seems like it takes outsized importance,” Stone told Vanity Fair while promoting their ¡Casa Bonita Mi Amor! The first special, titled South Park: Joining the Panderverse, premiered on October 27, 2023, and parodied the Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm for the perceived “forced wokeness” for reasons of identity politics. A second special titled South Park (Not Suitable for Children was released on December 20, 203 and parodied online subscription service OnlyFans and social media personalities.
