‘SNL50’: Bill Murray Names Top 10 Weekend Update Anchors, Leaves Out Colin Jost
Weekend Update segment also features former cast members Bobby Moynihan, Cecily Strong and Fred Armisen
Former Weekend Update anchor Bill Murray returned to Saturday Night Live on the show’s 50th anniversary special to list his top ten anchors–none of whom were the man next to him, Colin Jost. “In honor of Black History Month, I want to start by ranking the African American weekend update anchors,” Murray said, presenting a board with just one name slot. Weekend Update also saw the return of some memorable characters: Bobby Moynihan as “Drunk Uncle,” Cecily Strong as “Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party,” and Vanessa Bayer and Fred Armisen as “Lorne Michaels’ Best Friends from Growing Up.”
