Janelle's decision to leave Kody was the culmination of years of tension and drama within the family, mostly surrounding his strained relationships with his older children, particularly Garrison and Gabriel. "This is going to have to be one of those things where you guys have to work it out with a counselor or something because I can't be in the middle of it anymore because it's wrecking us," Janelle told Kody of his relationship with their kids.
