With a focus on the idea of dreaming of freedom, “Like a Bird” was born and earned the songwriting pair their first Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. ABRAHAM ALEXANDER: Adrian and I were conversing back and forth on what the song needs, and instantly I was thinking of the imagery of a bird being caged up and how it’s God given divine purpose is to fly. ALEXANDER: Yeah, this is entertainment, but this film truly is about life and human beings, and we felt like the song had to match that intensity.
