‘Shōgun’: Two More Seasons (Potentially) in the Works

'Shōgun,' FX’s remake of the 1980 miniseries and one of the best television shows of 2024 so far, will potentially return for two more seasons.

However, over the course of 10 episodes, Shōgun became FX’s most-watched show ever when paired with its Hulu streaming release, opening the door for a return to 16th century Japan. Hiroyuki Sanada, who stars as Lord Yoshii Toranaga on Shōgun, then secured an “if-come” deal from FX that ensured his participation in future seasons of the series if they were to happen. “We’ve been talking about how the story can continue since we started shooting, but who knows,” Sanada said in an interview that followed the then-limited series’ finale earlier this month.
