The innies of Mark (Adam Scott), Irving (John Turturro) and Helly (Britt Lower) return to work, having glimpsed the outside world thanks to Dylan’s (Zach Cherry) execution of the Overtime Contingency that allows Severed employees to awaken in their outie forms. The first episode of Season 2 already included some new additions to the cast: Sarah Bock as Miss Huang, Alia Shawkat as Gwendolyn Y., Stefano Carannante as an unnamed Italian macrodata refiner and Bob Babalan as Mark W. Variety TV Critic Alison Herman wrote in her review that “Whatever the destination ‘Severance’ is aiming for, the journey dramatizes the arbitrary rules and compartmentalized nature of modern work better than anything else on air.”
