The cameos were in keeping with the show’s 50th season, which has featured appearances from hosts and former cast members. Also appearing in the opener were Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Wiig, Emma Stone, John Mulaney and Alec Baldwin (unlike the others, with a “17” on his jacket).
