‘Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’ Sequel in the Works With Original Stars and Director Stephan Elliott
30 years after the release of "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," the cult classic is getting a sequel with the original cast.
The colorful 1994 film follows a transgender woman named Bernadette (Stamp) and two drag queens, Adam Whitely/Felicia Jollygoodfellow (Weaving) and Tick/Mitzi Del Bra (Pearce) as they road trip around the Australian Outback in a bus nicknamed Priscilla. It received an Oscar for outstanding costume design, and two Golden Globe nominations for best musical or comedy and for Stamp’s leading performance. The film spawned a jukebox stage musical with a book from Elliott and Allan Scott, which premiered in Sydney in 2006 and on Broadway in 2011 (with producer Bette Midler).
