'Prince William is staring his destiny in the face - it's a scary time for him'
EXCLUSIVE: The Prince of Wales is set to return to public duties this week after being at his wife's side during her recovery but now he is "staring his destiny in the face"
The news of the King's cancer diagnosis was revealed by Buckingham Palace at 6pm on Monday, 5 February in a statement which confirmed that he had already begun "a schedule of regular treatments". While the monarch will continue with his work behind the scenes with his daily red boxes and monthly privy council meetings, it is expected that Prince William will step up on his father's behalf. Forthcoming events that could see William playing a key role include the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey at the start of March and the 80th anniversary of D-Day in June.
