Showrunner Dean Lorey, speaking at the TCA press tour, “We’re making a couple of shifts in the show. So in the season, we’re going to see Poppa make a shift from the radio station to doing a podcast at home. Poppa has his point of view challenged at work when new female co-host Ivy, played by Essence Atkins, is hired, and at home where he finds himself still parenting his adult son, Junior, played by Damon Wayan Jr., a brilliant dreamer who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband.
