'Pee-wee's Playhouse' Alum Lynne Marie Stewart Recalls Meaningful Last Visit with Paul Reubens Before His Death

As loved ones mark the one-year anniversary of Paul Reuben's death, 'Pee-wee’s Playhouse' actress Lynne Marie Stewart recalls to PEOPLE how Reubens was "funny to the end" and "At peace" in some of the final moments before his death.

When Lynne Marie Stewart visited Paul Reubens in the hospital before his death in 2023, she found her former costar and longtime friend in good spirits. The legendary Los Angeles improv group was also an early home to comedians/actors, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Lisa Kudrow and Melissa McCarthy. After its success, CBS signed Reubens to act, produce, and direct his own live-action Saturday morning children's program called Pee-wee's Playhouse.
