'Outlander' prequel starts filming, casts Jamie and Claire's parents

Starz announced that the 'Outlander' prequel is officially in production — and reveals the actors who will portray Jamie and Claire's parents.

The network also announced their core cast, a quartet of actors who will bring to life the parents of both Jamie ( Sam Heughan) and Claire ( Caitriona Balfe). Additionally, in a new addendum to the series from what was previously announced, the prequel will also follow the love story of Claire's parents in World War I-era England. “We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples," said Matthew B. Roberts, the prequel's showrunner, in a statement.
