‘Ms. Pat Show’ Renewed For Season 5 As Star Extends Overall Deal With BET

The Ms. Pat Show has been renewed for a fifth season as star Patricia "Ms. Pat" Williams extends deal with BET.

Based on Williams’ life experiences, which she covers in her memoir Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat, the series tells the story of a former drug dealer and convicted felon turned suburban mom. An updated version of the traditional TV comedy format, the series portrays a modern, multi-generational African American family navigating life’s twists and turns against the backdrop of current cultural chaos with an unfiltered realness. What makes The Ms. Pat Show, created by Williams and Jordan E. Cooper, stand out among a plethora of comedies on the market, is the vulnerable and hilarious way it tackles often controversial topics—like non-binary pronouns, abortion, Black hair, school shootings, drug addiction, racism, and child abuse.
