In a reimagination of the 2005 film that starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, co-creators Glover and showrunner Francesca Sloane — who are Emmy-nominated for Best Writing for a Drama Series — wanted the show to be its own thing and not a copy of anything else. Cuba is a six-time Emmy nominee with two wins whose latest nom is for Best Casting for a Drama Series for her work on Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Mr. & Mrs. Smith received a Season 2 renewal in May, and Sloane confirmed she and Glover are busy in the writers room “having the best time ever.”
