‘Miami Vice’ Remake in the Works With ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Director Joseph Kosinski


"Top Gun: Maverick" director Joseph Kosinski will helm a "Miami Vice" reboot.

“Top Gun: Maverick” filmmaker Joseph Kosinski is set to direct a “ Miami Vice ” remake for Universal Pictures. Dan Gilroy (“Nightcrawler,” “The Bourne Legacy”) is adapting the screenplay from the 1980s TV series, starring Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as undercover cops. Kosinski, who steered “Top Gun: Maverick” to blockbuster success with nearly $1.5 billion at the global box office, will debut his next feature, Brad Pitt-led racing drama “F1,” over the summer.
