You interviewed various people who were close to Vandross including Valerie Simpson, bass player Marcus Miller and songwriting collaborator Richard Marx, who basically say it was none of anyone’s business who he liked or loved. I really wanted to make the point that he had some really terrible things happen in his life and I think it was an important subject to raise.
