‘Lovely Loneliness’ Helmer Victoria Galardi Returns to San Sebastian with ‘The Hedgehogs’ in Co-Production Forum (EXCLUSIVE)

Argentina’s Victoria Galardi returns to San Sebastian with “The Hedgehogs, “ which participates in the Co-Production Forum.

In 2008, “Lovely Loneliness,” which Galardi co-directed with Martin Carranza, vied for the hefty cash prize in the festival’s Zabaltegi New Directors section and brought home a Youth Jury Award. “It seems interesting to me to pose the contradiction of taking a family trip to a place where they were happy to end the separation, as if the memories of a life together were necessary to declare its end,” said Galardi, adding: “And to also show the difficulty the couple faces in making and executing that decision: how painful it is to separate, how long it takes to unravel the bond that joins two people for years.” Its credits include 2011 Cannes Golden Camera winner “Las Acacias,” “La luz incidente,” “Los Sonámbulos,” “Ciencias Naturales,” “Alemania” and “El llanto,” among others.
