‘Lanterns’ HBO Series Casts Kelly Macdonald
HBO's Green Lantern series has cast Kelly Macdonald in a series regular role, Variety has learned.
Macdonald joins previously announced series leads Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre in the series, which is titled “ Lanterns.” Per the official logline, the show follows “new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.” Macdonald will star as Sheriff Kerry, who is described as “a no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town. The role marks a return to HBO for Macdonald, as she previously starred in the premium cabler’s period gangster drama “Boardwalk Empire.” She received an Emmy nomination for the series in 2011.
