‘JFK’ Sound Mixer Tod A. Maitland to Get CAS Career Achievement Award


Tod A. Maitland, sound mixer on films including Steven Spielberg's 'West Side Story,' will receive Cinema Audio Society's Career Achievement Award.

Maitland has more than 100 credits and has earned Academy Award nominations for “West Side Story” (2022), “ Joker,” “Seabiscuit,” “JFK” (for which he won a BAFTA) and “Born of the Fourth of July.” His other notable credits include “Tootsie”; “I Am Legend”; “The Irishman”; the series “Fallout,” for which he was recently nominated for an Emmy; and the upcoming Bob Dylan film, “A Complete Unknown.” He’s established himself as a pioneer in capturing sound for modern movie musicals, starting with Stone’s “The Doors.” CAS president Peter Kurland noted that Maitland’s “love for and deep respect for film, combined with his impeccable artistry, make him a truly deserving recipient” of the Career Achievement Award. Tod’s amazing work, especially in sound for music-based films, has set new standards and inspired countless peers and aspiring mixers.
