She's known for her sophistication but Cate Blanchett - the star of a satirical comedy Rumours which premiered in Cannes on Saturday night - surprised many with her comic timing today.
Charles Dance plays the US President but the big attraction is Blanchett as Hilda Ortmann, a German chancellor who bears a more than passing resemblance in hairstyle and clothes taste to former leader Angela Merkel. Cate was joined on the red carpet on Saturday night for the glitzy premiere by her co-star Nikki Amuka-Bird, 48, (left) who cut a glamorous figure in a sheer black lace gown The film, which recently wrapped production in Hungary, also stars Genie Award winner Roy Dupuis and additional cast includes Charles Dance, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Rolando Ravello, Takehiro Hira, and Zlatko Buric.
