During the interview, Hart credited the 2022 documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me with encouraging her to publicly address her own health issues in her new book, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You. Despite her teary appearance on British TV, Gomez is enjoying an abundance of acclaim for her performance in Emilia Pérez, a musical crime comedy that’s been singled out by critics as an awards season front-runner. In the movie, she portrays Jessi Del Monte, the grieving wife of a Mexican cartel leader ( Karla Sofía Gascón) who, unbeknownst to Gomez’s character, has faked her own death in order to live truthfully as a transgender woman.
