Harris said she had just had breakfast with her family, including her baby nieces, and was about to start doing a puzzle when President Joe Biden gave her a call from his Rehoboth, Delaware, home, making it known that he was exiting the race. Harris went on to praise the record of the Biden administration, adding that history is going to show that his presidency was “transformative.” Biden chose to withdraw his candidacy about a month after that debate following mounting pressure from members in his own party to pass the torch to the next generation amid troubling poll numbers.
