'I'd be sick then film our CBBC TV show' - 90s boy band star shockingly reveals dark side of fame

North and South were a hit boy band in the 90s but not everything about their rise to pop fame was enjoyable, with members revealing the darker side to pop glory

North and South made their mark on the pop scene in the late 1990s, but in the years since they had a hit with I'm A Man (Not A Boy) and played a fictional version of themselves on the CBBC series No Sweat, one member revealed that life in the spotlight wasn't quite as glamorous as it looked. The nine-part series was set in Brighton and centred around the boys playing fictional versions of themselves with the plot revolving around them being a group of teenagers from rival schools who all came together to form the band North and South. Tom Lowe, who played the keyboard, saxophone and vocals, went on to host Real Life: The Musical, which aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network, and has also appeared in West End stage productions.
