‘I was back in the saddle 12 weeks after giving birth - returning to work has been a journey’

EXCLUSIVE: Paralympic gold medallist Natasha Baker speaks to OK! about heading to Paris 2024 and how she navigated getting back on the saddle with the demands of motherhood

“My parents wanted me to have lots of variation as a child, so I did swimming and I played musical instruments really badly, but my passion for horses was the most important thing for me,” she tells OK!. “It was watching the Sydney Games in 2000, seeing dressage for the first time and the riders who had disabilities like mine that I thought, ‘Well, if they can do it, then there’s no reason why I can’t do it as well.’ I announced to my parents that I wanted to win a gold medal one day.” With more than £30M a week raised for Good Causes, The National Lottery has enabled Great Britain to become a global force in Para equestrian and has provided more opportunities for people inspired by athletes like Natasha Baker to take part in the sport.
