'I tried to take my life when family thought I stole' says postmaster in Mr Bates scandal

Parmod, whose marriage broke down as a result of being wrongly convicted of stealing £22,000, also spent six months behind bars in 2001, even though he had subsequently given the Post Office £22,000 of his own money. Parmod was one of over 700 Post Office branch managers falsely convicted of theft or fraud after the faulty Horizon software made it look like money was missing from their shop.
