It's an impressive Art Deco-style building (Image: The Athenaeum) After a warm reception at the front desk, we received a pleasant surprise: we had arrived just in time to enjoy the hotel's complimentary 'cocktail hour' drinks in the Club Lounge – a delightful treat after a long day. Settling down with a glass of bubbly and some olives, we couldn't help but eavesdrop on some of the friendly conversations between guests – many of whom were clearly regulars – and hotel staff, who expertly recommended favourite local restaurants they should try, reports the Mirror. The Art Deco theme continues with mirrored walls, deep teal velvet armchairs nestled in a small bay window, and a marble bathroom filled with Molton Brown toiletries.
