'I rescued an abandoned dog from Lidl car park and never predicted what would happen next'

EXCLUSIVE: Laura was devastated when her border collie, Chuck, died at the age of 12 - but little did she know that she would soon be helping rehome stray dogs from Bulgaria

While browsing their website, Laura spotted a mixed breed named Lidia, who was discovered in a Lidl supermarket car park by the charity's co-founders Emma, 49, and Anthony Smith, 57. When Emma, hailing from a nursing and policing background, and Anthony, formerly a farmer and commercial diver, relocated to Bulgaria from North Yorkshire in 2013, they were astonished to encounter an overwhelming number of stray dogs. We make regular trips to local schools and welcome children at our shelter, imparting lessons on responsible pet ownership, the significance of neutering, and fostering compassion towards animals.
