The power of the “The Hunger Games” fandom has lived on since the release of Collins’ first book in 2008, reaching a fever pitch in in 2012 with the onset of the inspired film franchise led by Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. To appease the rich citizens of the Capitol and to ensure the population adheres to government control, members of each district are selected annually to compete in The Hunger Games, in which contestants are forced to murder each other to survive. The film rights for the novel have not yet been announced, but one can assume that “Sunrise on the Reaping” will follow the path of its predecessors and make its way onto the big screen.
