‘Harry Potter’ Series Will Explore Books ‘More In-Depth’ Than Films, Says Warner Bros. TV Boss Channing Dungey

Warner Bros. TV Boss Channing Dungey discussed both the upcoming 'Harry Potter' TV series and 'Ted Lasso' season 4 in her MIPCOM talk

Speaking at Mipcom in Cannes, Channing Dungey who serves as Warner Bros. TV Group ‘s chairman and CEO, said that the “writing staff was in place and they’re doing what they need to do, and casting calls have opened up in the U.K. and Ireland, so the process is moving along.” Dungey added that working with the “Harry Potter” universe was an “unbelievable dream, honestly, and as somebody who is a huge fan of the books, the opportunity to get to explore them in a little bit more in-depth that you can in just a two-hour film… that’s the whole reason we’re on this journey.” Variety confirmed in August that the return of the hit comedy was on the verge of being greenlit, with Warner Bros. Television having picked up the options on original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift.
