‘Gavin & Stacey’ Finale Smashes U.K. TV Records for Scripted Show With Almost 20 Million Views
The finale of the sitcom, which aired on Christmas Day, is nearing 20 million views, the most for a scripted show since current records began.
According to the BBC, the final episode of the hit British sitcom — co-created by Ruth Jones and James Corden — is now the U.K.’s most-watched scripted show across all broadcasters and streamers since current records began in 2002. Added Charlotte Moore, BBC’s chief content officer: “The numbers are truly outstanding, unprecedented even! Ruth Jones and James Corden’s creation is a true homegrown success story, and their finale is a comedy masterpiece.
