Elston spoke to Deadline on Day 2 of Hello Sunshine’s 2024 Shine Away event reflecting on the time since First Lie Wins came out and what the adaptation process has taught her. It’s life changing, but also I still decide what I’m having for dinner tomorrow and my youngest to cross country practice and that laundry’s not gonna do itself. As long as the book is recognizable and that DNA is intact, and that heart and that soul of what that story is, if that shines through, I don’t care about the changes.
